Celebrate Leap Year

Celebrate Leap Year

Welcome everyone! I hope all y’all are having a great Leap Year so far! Have you ever wondered how Leap Year come into being? Here’s a quick history. . . .

The Gregorian calendar (started by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582) serves as the standard calendar for most peoples throughout the world, and it has both common years and leap years. Common years have 365 days, while leap years have 366 days. February 29th is that extra day. And, leap year occurs every four years. Its purpose, you might wonder, is to help synchronize the calendar year with the length of time it takes the earth to complete its orbit around the sun.

Did you know there are about 187,000 people in the US and 4 million people in the world who were born on Leap Day (February 29th). This includes a few famous people you may have know: Antonio Sabato, Jr., Ja Rule, and Tony Robbins among them. For us oldies, Jimmy Dorsey and Dinah Shore were also Leap Day babies!

A fun fact: most years that can be divided by 4 are leap years.

February is also the time we celebrate Black History Month. It’s a time we carve out to specifically recognize the central role of blacks in U.S. history. This annual event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent Blacks. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history.

The second book in my detective series is coming along on schedule. I’ve completed the first draft and will now begin my editing process before sending it off to my Editor. I’ve decided that I’m going to keep the tentative title, so Book 2 will be titled “Nasty Nathan.” I’m hoping for an April launch date.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. I love creating the crazy, kooky, twisted characters that inhabit all of my stories. I do ask again that you consider leaving a review wherever you get my books. Reviews really are a major way to get the attention of advertisers and those who might be on the lookout for a new film project!
